Baby born aboard Uzbekistan Airways flight from Istanbul to Tashkent

Today, July 19, a baby was born on Uzbekistan Airways flight HY282 en route from Istanbul to Tashkent. According to the airline, a passenger went into premature labor during the flight. Fortunately, two doctors happened to be among the passengers and, working closely with the cabin crew, promptly provided the necessary medical assistance.

Following a decision by the flight captain, the aircraft made an emergency landing at Urgench Airport, where the mother and her newborn son were met by local medical personnel. The family was swiftly transferred to a nearby clinic for further care.

In its official statement, Uzbekistan Airways congratulated the family on the birth of their child and expressed gratitude to the crew members.

“The aircraft was piloted by Captain Mikhail Azhgirevich and First Officer Elyor Khoshimov. The cabin crew included: Lyudmila Li, Alina Ibragimova, Diana Dyu, Intizor Yusupova, Shukhrat Ernazarov, Fozil Zukhurov, Feruza Rajarova, and Shahzoda Nurullayeva. Special thanks also go to the doctors who happened to be on the flight and offered their assistance – Dilbar Sheripbayeva and Dilshod Nortojiyev.

“May the journey of this new life, which began among the clouds, be as bright and smooth as a flight!” the airline said in its press release.

This is not the first time a baby has been born aboard an Uzbekistan Airways flight. In January, another child was delivered mid-air on a Tashkent–New York flight, prompting an emergency landing in Iceland.
