40 micro hydropower plants to be built in Tashkent region

A total of 6.59 hectares of land have been allocated to the Ministry of Energy for permanent use.

The Tashkent regional administration has announced that 6.59 hectares of land at 40 different sites have been permanently allocated to the Ministry of Energy. These sites are designated for the construction of micro hydropower plants.

According to the statement, the land plots will be auctioned to identify private developers to implement the projects.

The micro hydropower plants will be built in the districts of Piskent, Ohangaron, Bekabad, Yukori Chirchik, Bustanlyk, Kibray, Chinoz, Buka, Yangiyul, and Zangiota, as well as in the cities of Angren, Almalyk, Bekabad, and Chirchik.

Earlier, 6.7 hectares of non-agricultural land from the state reserve in Tashkent region were also allocated to the Ministry of Energy for permanent use.

It was noted that 264 specific sites have been identified for the construction of hydropower plants across the region. Land has already been allocated at 102 of these sites for micro HPPs, and construction work is currently underway.
