Situation in South Korea

On April 4, the Constitutional Court of Korea is set to rule on the impeachment case of President Yoon Suk Yeol. The session will be held publicly and broadcast live. The court’s decision will determine whether Yoon remains in office.

On December 3, 2024, Yoon declared martial law in South Korea. On January 15, 2025, he was arrested at his residence – despite resistance from his security detail – on charges of insurrection. His detention sparked unrest in Seoul.

On March 7, the Seoul Central District Court granted Yoon's lawyer’s appeal and revoked his arrest warrant. The following day, the 64-year-old politician was released but remains under investigation.
