In the first half of 2023, the demand for cargo transportation to Uzbekistan increased by 77%, Spot with reference to the press service of the ATI.SU exchange.

From January to June, the number of applications for the transportation of goods to Uzbekistan increased by 77% compared to the same period in 2022. Also, a significant increase in demand for cargo transportation is noted in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and China. At the same time, the rates for the transportation of goods increased by 8% over the six months.

However, in April-June, cargo transportation to Uzbekistan decreased by 31% compared to the first quarter. In the Russian direction, the reduction in cargo transportation amounted to 30%.

Moreover, the growth of export traffic was replaced by a fall. In particular, for the first half of the year the number of placed applications for cargo transportation decreased by 4%, and in the Russian direction – by 8%. Also, rates for export shipments rose by 13%.

Farid Vakhidov, director of the ATI.SU representative office in Uzbekistan, said that the cargo transportation market is gradually regaining balance after last year’s surge caused by sanctions against Russia and the restructuring of logistics and production routes that has begun.

“In any case, we do not expect a new surge in the Russian direction in the near future, and a slight correction may follow. But other areas, primarily Kazakhstan and China, can become growth drivers,” Vakhidov said.
