Gov’t decree: Imported meat is exempt from VAT until October 1

According to a government decree, ammendments and addenda have been made to the list of food products produced in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the turnover for the sale of which is exempt from value added tax (VAT), the Justice Ministry reports.
Benefits of exemption from VAT are provided for the retail and wholesale trade of certain types of food products produced in Uzbekistan.
In compliance with the changes, meat (beef, lamb, chicken), as well as live animals (cattle and poultry) and products from slaughtered animals, imported before October 1, 2019, are exempt from value added tax.
