July 2025 goes down as one of Uzbekistan’s driest and hottest months
July 2025 was one of the hottest months ever recorded in Uzbekistan, with average air temperatures exceeding climate norms by 1–3 degrees Celsius. Across nearly the entire country – except for the northwestern regions – the month ranked among the three hottest Julys on record, and in several areas, it was declared the hottest ever.

According to Uzhydromet, temperatures remained above seasonal norms for most of the month. Daytime highs generally reached 38–41°C, spiking to 42–44°C on peak days. In the southern and desert regions, the heat soared to an extreme 45–48°C. Some regions registered new all-time highs, while others repeated records from previous years.
The only relatively cooler spells came in the second ten-day period and at the end of the month, when daytime temperatures dropped to 32–36°C. In most areas, the number of days with temperatures above 40°C significantly exceeded long-term averages. Southern parts of the country experienced 18–24 such days, while Tashkent saw 11 days with temperatures at or above 40°C – the second highest count on record, following July 2019. Navoi and Fergana reported record-breaking numbers of extremely hot days – 17 and 7 respectively.
July was also exceptionally dry. Most of the country saw no precipitation at all. Only the Fergana Valley and mountainous areas of the Tashkent region received short, isolated rains once or twice during the month, with daily rainfall reaching up to 8–13 mm. While dry Julys are not unusual for Uzbekistan, this year’s marks the fourth consecutive month of rainfall deficiency since April.
