Average salary in Uzbekistan climbs to nearly UZS 6 million, with teachers and doctors still earning below average

The average nominal monthly salary in Uzbekistan reached UZS 5.98 million in the first half of 2025 – an increase of 17.2% compared to the same period last year. In Tashkent city, the figure grew by 18.8%, exceeding UZS 10.1 million, according to the National Statistics Committee.

Nominal salary is defined as the gross income paid to employees for their work in monetary form, including base pay, bonuses, compensation, and other payments, before taxes and deductions.

Regional breakdown

Tashkent city retained the highest average nominal salary nationwide – UZS 10.14 million. It was followed by:

  • Navoi region – UZS 7.49 million (+13.4%)
  • Tashkent region – UZS 5.67 million (+15.3%)
  • Andijan region – UZS 4.94 million (+11%)
  • Syrdarya region – UZS 4.79 million (+18%)
  • Bukhara region – UZS 4.79 million (+14.8%)
  • Republic of Karakalpakstan – UZS 4.76 million (+14.2%)
  • Khorezm region – UZS 4.72 million (+15.6%)
  • Jizzakh region – UZS 4.48 million (+17%)

The lowest average was recorded in Kashkadarya region – UZS 4.15 million (+14.3%). Other regions with lower-than-average figures included:

  • Surkhandarya – UZS 4.26 million (+16.1%)
  • Namangan – UZS 4.35 million (+16.6%)
  • Samarkand – UZS 4.44 million (+15.8%)
  • Fergana – UZS 4.44 million (+16.9%)

Sector-wise salary dynamics

By sector, the strongest year-on-year growth was seen in arts, entertainment, and recreation, where average salaries rose by 20.7% to UZS 5.04 million.

Notable increases were also recorded in:

  • Education – UZS 4.14 million (+18.3%)
  • Information and communication – UZS 14.79 million (+17%)
  • Transportation and storage – UZS 9 million (+16%)
  • Industry – UZS 7.17 million (+15.4%)

Sectors with lower-than-average growth included:

  • Accommodation and food services – UZS 4.59 million (+4.5%)
  • Construction – UZS 5.89 million (+6.1%)
  • Healthcare and social services – UZS 3.70 million (+12.4%)
  • Retail and wholesale trade – UZS 6.7 million (+12.8%)
  • Banking, insurance, leasing, and finance – UZS 16.25 million (+13.9%)

Five-year trends

A five-year analysis shows that in Q2 2025, average salaries in financial services (banking, insurance, leasing, credit, and brokerage) increased by UZS 8.92 million compared to the same quarter in 2021, reaching UZS 16.25 million.

Other five-year growth figures include:

  • Information and communication – up by UZS 9.65 million
  • Transportation and storage – up by UZS 5.32 million
  • Industry – up by UZS 3.38 million
  • Construction – up by UZS 2.15 million
  • Arts, entertainment, and recreation – up by UZS 2.49 million
