Senate of Uzbekistan signs cooperation program with UN Population Fund
The Chairperson of the Senate of Oliy Majlis, Tanzila Narbaeva, met yesterday with Nigina Abaszada, UNFPA Resident Representative in Uzbekistan.

According to the information service of the upper house of Parliament, the meeting featured a detailed discussion of Uzbekistan’s demographic growth prospects, issues related to further improving the population’s standard of living, and steps to elevate the country’s development to a new level. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of studying international experience and best practices in creating favorable working conditions for women, as well as ensuring a balance between professional responsibilities and family obligations.
It was also noted that in the matter of gender equality, not only statistical indicators matter, but also practical transformations. The parties reached an agreement to expand cooperation on broad-based support for the potential of women and girls, including launching educational programs aimed at improving professional qualifications across various sectors.
Nigina Abaszada, for her part, particularly emphasized that opportunities for girls to access education in Uzbekistan are steadily expanding, which she described as the most effective investment in the future.
The parties also discussed proposals to improve legislation aimed at combating digital violence, including the development of clear legal mechanisms to counter online abuse.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a Cooperation Program between the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Population Fund for 2025–2026 was signed.
