Fergana CEB official caught red-handed while accepting bribe

The head of a district branch of the Compulsory Enforcement Bureau (CEB) in Fergana region has been caught accepting a bribe, according to a report by the State Security Service (SSS).

It was reported that the official, abusing his position, demanded $2,000 in return for concluding enforcement actions on a court-issued writ of execution related to a civil case. The case involved the forced eviction of defendants from a residential property in the district, and the court order was under the supervision of a state enforcement officer reporting to the district chief.

On June 3, the official received $1,200 of the requested bribe. In a swift operation conducted jointly by the State Security Service and the Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office, he was apprehended with material evidence while receiving the remaining $800.

A criminal case has been opened against the CEB official under Article 210, Part 2, Clause “v” of the Criminal Code, and a pre-trial detention measure has been applied.
