Emergency crews, military units, and drones join forces to battle Boysun forest fire

A large-scale wildfire that broke out in the forested area of Boysun, Surkhandarya region, was extinguished after nearly 14 hours of firefighting efforts. According to the Surkhandarya Emergency Situations Department, around 200 personnel were involved in the operation, supported by forestry staff, police officers, military units, and local volunteers. The response also included dozens of vehicles, a Defense Ministry helicopter, and drones operated by border guards.

On June 17 at approximately 17:45, dry grass caught fire near juniper forests belonging to the "Kengdala" forestry division in Boysun district. Following the report, firefighting crews from the regional Emergency Situations Department were dispatched to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire by early the next morning.

“Fire and rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene upon receiving the report. Thanks to coordinated efforts with relevant agencies and volunteers, the blaze covering 3 hectares was fully extinguished by 07:10 on June 18, preventing it from spreading further,” the Emergency Situations Ministry said in its statement.

The operation involved 85 personnel and 4 vehicles from the Emergency Situations Department, 40 staff members and 4 vehicles from the forestry division, 6 police officers, 20 military personnel and one helicopter from the Ministry of Defense, as well as 40 local volunteers.

Drones operated by border troops were effectively used to monitor the fire zone during the firefighting operation.

The Ministry did not specify the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage. A spokesperson for the ministry told Kun.uz that the cause is still under investigation and further information will be provided in due course. No injuries or fatalities have been reported as a result of the fire.
