Qobil Dusov receives 5-year sentence for online defamation and false reporting

Qobil Dusov has been found guilty of committing crimes related to slander, insult, and spreading false information. A court sentenced him to 5 years and 2 months in prison. The ruling also mandates the termination and blocking of his Facebook profile and Telegram channel.

Today, the Shaykhontokhur District Criminal Court concluded an open trial regarding Qobil Dusov’s criminal case and delivered its verdict. The case was heard in the first instance by Judge A. Mirzakhonov of the Shaykhontokhur District Court.

According to the court ruling, Qobil Dusov was found guilty under the following articles of the Criminal Code:

  • Article 139, Part 3, Clause “a” (slander)
  • Article 140, Part 3, Clause “a” (insult)
  • Article 237, Part 2, Clause “g” (spreading false information)

These charges relate to offenses against five victims, including officials and responsible staff from the Navoiy Regional Department of Preschool and School Education, and a senior inspector of the Probation Department in Chirchik city.

Dusov's final sentence, including partial addition of a previous ruling from the Arnasoy District Criminal Court dated February 24, 2025, amounts to 5 years and 2 months of imprisonment. He will serve this sentence in a general-regime penal colony.

Additionally, the court ordered the suspension and blocking of Dusov’s Facebook profile and Telegram channel.

Previously, on November 22, 2024, the Chilanzar District Criminal Court had found Dusov guilty of committing the crime of insult and sentenced him to 1 year of restricted freedom. However, under the January 24, 2025, decision of the Yashnobod District Criminal Court, the remaining 11 months and 2 days of that sentence were converted into a prison term, to be served in a settlement colony.

Furthermore, on January 24, 2025, the Arnasoy District Criminal Court sentenced Dusov to 1 year and 2 months of imprisonment.
