Annual inflation hits 10.3% in March
The prices of goods and services in March rose by 0.9% compared to the previous month. Over the first quarter (January–March), inflation increased by 2.1%, whereas the figure for the same period in 2024 was 1.7%.
Annual inflation also climbed by 0.2%, reaching 10.3% in March. This follows 10.1% in February and 9.9% in January. Over the first quarter, annual inflation grew by 0.5%. Over the past 12 months, the prices of goods and services have risen from 8% to 10.3%, reflecting a total 2.3% increase.
Among all regions, Tashkent city recorded the highest annual inflation rate at 12%, while Syrdarya region had the lowest at 8.6%.
Which products became more expensive?
Food prices increased more than other categories, rising by 1.5% in March. Meanwhile, non-food products became 0.2% more expensive, and services saw a 0.7% price increase.
Meat and dairy products
- Beef: +8.3% to 8.8%
- Lamb: +9.1%
- Minced meat: +5.4%
- Chicken: +0.1% to 0.6%
- Live fish: +1.7%
- Butter: +1.1%
- Milk: +0.9%
- Non-alcoholic beverages: +0.5%
At the same time, rice prices fell by 2.3%, and wheat flour dropped by 1.4%.
Fruits and vegetables
Due to seasonal factors, fruit and vegetable prices fluctuated.
- Carrots: +15.7%
- Tomatoes: +4.3%
- Bell peppers: +3.8%
- Cabbage and garlic: +2.6%
- Onions: +1.9%
However, some products became cheaper:
- Cucumbers: -14.7%
- Potatoes: -3.7%
Service price increases
- Household waste removal: +4%
- Passenger air transportation: +4.4%
- Domestic flights: +3.9%
- International flights: +4.8%
- Automobile transportation services: +0.5%
- Rail transport services: +0.4%
- Mobile communication services: +3.5%
In February, the public’s 12-month inflation expectations rose to 15.3%, compared to 14.4% in January. People are increasingly concerned about potential price hikes in utilities, fuel, and energy resources over the coming year.
