Gov’t ends foreign language proficiency pay for public sector employees
As of January 1, additional allowances for employees of all levels of public administration agencies holding national and international foreign language certificates have been discontinued.
This measure is outlined in the presidential decree aimed at ensuring the implementation of the 2025 state budget law.
The provision of allowances for civil servants proficient in foreign languages began on January 1, 2022. However, two years later, this practice has been abolished.
The allowance amount was set at up to 20% of the employee’s base salary.
Earlier, it was reported that proposals were being developed to increase the salaries of employees working in local government offices.
