Two airports in Uzbekistan plan to build a Central Air Traffic Control Complex, the press service of the Ministry of Transport reports.
On Wednesday, July 10, after reconstruction, Termez International Airport was opened. A new air traffic control tower was built at the airfield, allowing services to be provided by a single dispatcher.
The new control tower enables the operator to carry out continuous radar and visual monitoring of aircraft movements on the ground and in the air, as well as the operations of services at the airfield.
Doniyor Jumaev, Director of the State Unitary Enterprise "Uzaeronavigation" Center, announced the imminent construction of similar control towers at Andijan and Namangan airports.
Additionally, the design work for the central air traffic control complex has been completed, and construction work on this project will begin soon.
Also, for two and a half weeks in July-August, Urgench International Airport will be closed for major repairs of the runway and taxiways. During the reconstruction, all scheduled flights will be redirected to Nukus Airport.
