Air Products has reached an agreement with Navoiyazot to establish a complex for industrial carbon dioxide production, as announced by the press service of the American corporation.

The facility will process unpurified carbon dioxide (CO2) captured from the ammonia production line of the plant into high-purity CO2. It is noted that this venture will be the first of its kind in Uzbekistan.

The investment in constructing the complex is estimated at $15 million, with plans to commission the plant by the end of the current year.

The future complex will have a capacity of 120 tons per day. According to Air Products, creating the complex will reduce natural gas consumption in producing industrial CO2 and address seasonal raw material supply interruptions.

The purified gas will be supplied to beverage manufacturers, agro-industrial enterprises, and food processing companies. It will also be utilized in the production of welding mixtures, paper, glass, cryomedicine, and the transportation industry.

"Our plant will allow the processing of unpurified CO2 into high-purity carbon dioxide, setting new production standards in the region. These investments demonstrate our commitment to creating a more environmentally friendly future in Uzbekistan and beyond," said Kirill Korotkov, Commercial Director of Air Products Uzbekistan.

In 2023, the American company was involved in a project to process industrial gases produced by the Uzbekistan GTL complex and in the construction of a methanol plant for SANEG. Air Products' investment program in the republic is estimated at $10 billion.
