Police officers used force against a 12-year-old boy in Tashkent 

The child has head injury, he is in a state of emotional fear. According to the request of the Children’s Ombudsman, the Tashkent city prosecutor’s office is studying the legal assessment of this situation.

Social networks disseminated a video showing a child being forcibly taken to a car by the police officers. In the video, it can be seen that the child hits his head and screams as one of the officers picks him up and puts him in the service car.

According to the Children’s Ombudsman, the incident took place on December 22, 2023 in the city of Tashkent. On February 1, 2024, the child’s mother applied to the Children’s Ombudsman.

In Chilanzar-3 block of Chilanzar district, DIA officers Sh.M. and A.O. found out that citizen K.P. (born in 2011) had pyrotechnic devices and tried to forcibly put the child in the service car.

As a result, the child had head injury and fell into a state of severe emotional fear.

In connection with this situation, a service check was conducted against Sh.M. and A.O., the MIA employees, and a disciplinary punishment was applied against their actions on the case of child abuse and violation of the MIA Professional Culture Code.

“Such actions of law enforcement officers against the interests of children are absolutely unacceptable and must be dealt with strictly within the framework of the law. Currently, according to the request of the Children’s Ombudsman, the Tashkent city prosecutor’s office is studying the legal assessment of this fact,” the Children’s Ombudsman stated.
